Excess fuel in the surge tank is returned back to the vehicle’s main fuel tank. This volume is maintained by the lift pump as well as the fuel returning from the fuel pressure regulator. ![]() The volume of fuel inside the surge tank acts as a buffer to always keep the FST pump(s) supplied with fuel, even if the lift pump starves momentarily. Fuel is supplied to the surge tank by a lift pump, which in most cases is the OEM in-tank fuel pump. Unlike any others on the market, this kit includes an anodized aluminum collector box with a 1" check valve ball that serves as a trap door keeping the pump(s) supplied dynamically with fuel during aggressive driving. The complete assembly fits under the OEM access cover without modification. A -8AN male pump feed fitting and -6AN male return fitting are included to simplify aftermarket -AN hose plumbing. The pump out and return ports are machined with 8AN ORB (3/4"-16) threaded ports.
